Mystery Dog Ranch is an equestrian day camp for girls and boys ages 5-17.  We strive to educate our horse enthusiast to learn proper safety measures around horses and learn the basics of horseback riding or expand their knowledge so they can take our principles anywhere they go in order to exhibit their learned horsemanship skills!

Our Camp Director, Heidi Maloy, is a professional certified riding and vaulting instructor with Path International and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure the campers have a good experience with our horses!  Each rider and horse is properly matched for their ultimate Summer Camp Experience!  Heidi started riding at the age of 4 on her pony named “Peanuts.”  Heidi was affiliated with the United States Pony Club, United States Equestrian Federation, American Vaulting Association (AVA), grew up with 4H during her school years, and competed with Regional and National Levels in Games, Show Jumping and Combined Training.  As a current member of AVA, Heidi is a Regional and National Silver Medalist in Vaulting and also served on the Board of Path International to develop industry standards for the vaulting program for this organization.

Our Ranch Family has over 100 years combined horse experience and we want everyone to gain the knowledge that we have so you achieve a new level of horsemanship confidence!

Campers will experience and understand the difference of English and Western Riding and of course everyone looks forward to Trail Riding and Pasture Games to!  All forms of riding will be taught where the Horse and Rider Become One – in other words learning to work together instead of against one another.  Learning to use your body language via your head, hands, legs and seat will help you communicate with your horse so you don’t give mixed signals.

Our program will provide individualized instruction based on the rider’s ability.  They will learn basic horse skills, horse management, basic first aid for horses, nutrition, braiding, grooming, parts of tack and horse and most importantly riding skills.  Each camper will go home with a folder containing the information they learned throughout the week.  Both the arena and pasture will be utilized during camps and depending on the rider’s ability they will learn to instruct the horse to walk, trot and for some canter.

Tye-Dye T-shirts will be made each week and all camps with the exception of the Battlefield Ride Week, will have a parent demonstration to show them what they have learned!  Please bring a lunch, bathing suit/towel, sunscreen, bug spray, helmet (if you have one), wear jeans or breeches each day and you must also wear boots.  Sportsmanship and fun is stressed to everyone and no one goes away empty handed!  Awards to all!
